I’ve spent the last week or so digging through old boxes of toys and the like that haven’t seen sunlight for several years. It was interesting seeing old things I used to play with, and many memories came attached to them. Anyone remember the Ghostbusters? Beetlejuice? Swamp Thing? Jurassic Park? Batman? What great toys. Toys today are crap. Pure crap.

Now that I’m pretty much done digging through all those boxes, I have no idea what to do with all my spare time. I’m sure I’ll come up with something. Later!

  • What about the mad scientist toyline? Remember those?

  • If you don’t like today’s toys, then how come you visit them every single time you go to Wal-Mart, hmm?

  • I loved those Jurassic Park toys. My favorite part was the hunk of flesh that would come out of them as if they’d been bitten. Hehe… I still prefer the Nija Turtles I’ve still got though.

  • I agree with Maje_Charis. I find myself wandering the aisles of Spider-Man figures at Wal-Mart because the detail on them is phenomenal, especially in the villains. I’d say those we grew up with are terrific, but as the industry has improved, so have the toys and they make me peruse the aisles endlessly.

(This above statement holds true if you’re a fan of Marvel comics. DC comics action figures have remained about the same over the years).

I used to own all of the He-Man action figures, and a good deal of the Ninja Turtles. I now own several villains from Spider-Man, as the detail on most of them is truly amazing, almost like a 3-D version of the comics with extraordinary articulation. Man, sometimes it’s just fun to remember what you’re interested in.

  • Jake, you’re right!  Most toys are crap today, so I’m with you all the way!  Hope the summer is going well for you.  Let me know how you’re doing!  ~Lace

  • Jake, you are right. Most toys today suck major tail feathers. But I do have to admit that some baby type toys are pretty neat. But the good old fashioned pot and pan with a wooden spoon or a huge box is the best way to go.

I don’t have alot of my old toys anymore expect for playmoblies to which we still play with because they are so cool. But like you I was tearing through some old stuff before camp. It does bring up alot of memories. It was enjoyable for a bit.

Ps: When do you leave for whatever?
