  • You’ve won the lottery.  What is the first thing you would do?  THE very first thing.  Besides picking up the check?

I HAD to answer this one right away. The first thing I would spend some of my prize money on, right? Well, most of you are well aware of The Intersection in Mt. Vernon. I would stroll into a City Council meeting or something and say, “Look. There needs to be a stoplight there. Tell me how much it’ll take and I’ll write the check. Make it happen.” Come ON people. Of all places in the world, there needs to be a freaking stoplight at that intersection!

After I donated money for Mt. Vernon’s stoplight, I would give a portion of it to Tipton schools. I’d give a HUGE amount to the church and the Knights of Columbus to help them out. I’d pay of all my parent’s debts, my brother’s and sister’s college debts, and my debts, and I would pay to put all my siblings through college wherever they wanted to go. I’d give some money to my friends and I’d buy my grandmother’s house and property. I’d probably use the rest of the money to go ahead and finish school, then live a nice peaceful life full of a wife, kids, a big house in the countryside, yearly vacations, and no financial worries. I wouldn’t BLOW the rest of my money on crap, but I definitely wouldn’t work. Not a job anyways. I’d probably spend a lot of time helping whatever church I go to as well as being really active in the Knights of Columbus. So yeah. Watch out lottery. If you happen, so does the above. Keep the questions coming!

NOTE: Hey, don’t forget to read my previous entry. I answered the latest batch of questions back there!!!!!!!!

  • Thank you for the comment, and the same could be said about you.

I’m going to take your advice and bring it up at ICMA this Thursday/Friday, when we’re away from the Trumpet for the most part and have nothing really to do.  I’m scared shitless of her own reply, but I know full well how keeping this in has me tearing up.

I spent a good half-hour this afternoon trying to stop her from beating herself up for not getting over to a breaking news scene (water main broke) to get a picture of the accident.  As it is, we have a picture of them filling up the street afterwards, and she has a good start on the story, but she was scared she might be losing her news drive because she didn’t get the photo of the actual incident.  She, like me, thought when she heard that a water main broke, that it was down much further than it was from campus, and so after finding out water didn’t work in her buildings complained about it and studied for her test instead of checking out where this water main could be.

It’s times like this, I really like being there for her, trying to convince her that if even the rest of the world might be against her, I’m with her all the way…  I guess this is just the hopeless romantic in me, and if this doesn’t bear fruition, it’s no big loss as long as in the end I can still be one of the people who helps build her up when the world tears her down.

I’m guessing this isn’t what you’re referring to, however, in your comments.  If I had to shoot off a guess, I’d say it’d be various comments I’ve made on other people’s sites, mainly that of Gil_Galad and Lady_Mother’s and maybe my own…

I’ve been staring at these issues in my own ways these past few years, and even though I’ve had a rough life to get this far, I don’t think I’d ever want to change the road I’ve travelled to get where I am today, because it has made me a stronger person in a lot of my own convictions, especially towards violence and aggression.  I can’t stand violent video games, and to degrees, certain movies because of that.  I’m okay with that.  People have a right to bear arms… I’m okay with that, though you’ll never see me with a firearm of any sort, because it’s against my own personal convictions.  A lot of people might consider that the weak route to take, but I’ve been near those situations where if push came to shove, I’m afraid how hard I might shove back to make it stop, and unless you’ve been there before it’s hard for people to understand.  I appreciate all the great friends, family and role models I’ve had who have gotten me this far, and I wouldn’t change any of them, either.

Ok, after that long rant about something and nothing all at once…  Knowing full well you asked this question on my site, you knew it had to be coming back at you, but I desperately have to know:  Why, out of all the Superheroes in the world, did you happen to choose Batman?  Who is your favorite author?  What is your favorite book and why?

Sorry for the long post…  I’m just full of hot air today…

P.S.-It’s confirmed that the comedian coming to Wartburg for ETK’s big event is Bill Engvall, not Ron White.  He was the cheapest of the four, so Wartburg booked him to come here.  I might still get to interview him for the Trumpet, but since he comes the night before our Winter Break, chances look much slimmer.

  • Wow that would be awesome! Then I could finally study in Ireland and England!!! Woohoo! Wishful thinking does make me happy! Have a good week and luvyas!

  • Wowsers you are SO unselfish!

  • Good answer!  You are so right about that intersection.  I have to go through it twice a day during the week and I’m surprised more accidents haven’t happened there.

  • Okay, so we all SAY we would give away our winnings for the greater common good, but come on, what would you REALLY spend it on!? Pez dispensers? A lifetime supply of Spam? I know there’s gotta be some selfish desire in there somewhere! A replica of a castle to live in? With an inflatable pool to go in the dungeons?

  • I am with kittykat on this one. I would go for the giant castle replica with an inflatable pool.
