To think that for you, for me, God did this…
…and most of the world doesn’t even care.

And then at last he gave his final breath,
lance-pierced, his love poured out of his breast.
So gentle and so generous
is our Lord that he would die for us!
O weep, O mourn, Emmanuel has died for thee O Israel!

The eclipse is appropriate. The birth of Christ tied to his death, leading us into the Resurrection.
Partial lines from We Three Kings of Orient Are were on my mind today: “Born a king on Bethlehem’s plain, gold I bring to crown him again … frankincense, it’s bitter perfume, … gathering gloom ”. I don’t necessarily like Good Friday, although I know that it is what gives me salvation, but I know that I need this day to truly mourn His death and the Fall that preceeded it, and the fact that God created us knowing all of this.
I care. How can I ever forget? I’m a terrible Catholic, but I’m fasting today (doing the one meal thing) to meditate on Good Friday.
