Ah, a man after my own heart. Read the post about “Love at First Click” on TheTheologiansCafe and then read the following comment left by V_tv:
“I abhor the thought of marriage through electronic means, particularly a sustained marriage and not just meeting your spouse online. The thought of children being conceived courtesy of FedEx is appalling as well. Could you look at the face of your child and tell them, “Little one, your mother and I have never met. I contributed my gift of life into a tube, mailed it to her, and it was artificially inserted into her uterus. You are a manufactured item, and thing.”
Have we become so comfortable behind our electronic masks that we cannot even step into the light to love? Are we destined to devolve into dead, overweight monstrosities that might go a life-time without experiencing the heavenly intimacy of a kiss? Will the conception of children become a base function, a political decision made between two consenting people masturbating to electronically modified pictures of each other, the only cost being the postage of the man’s seed? The thought sickens me. The thought horrifies me to no end. Who will raise the child? Could mankind become so selfish that the child becomes a liability, an inconvenience that is best avoided if possible?
If we lose respect for the life of children, the life of grown men and women will be worth as much as the animal you strike with your car. Then, I promise you, the world will rue the day it forgot how precious a gift life truly is.”
Amen, brother. Amen.

Oh, I speak but the truth young sir, the truth I feel stirring in my heart. It may not be your truth, or The Truth, but it is my truth. If everyone spoke some kind of truth, imagine how much better the world could be. I believe there is an undeniable, base Truth to existence, and all truth is tied, somehow, to the One Truth. A life would not be wasted if spent entirely on trying to discover precisely what that Truth is. I invite everyone to take that first step, and I pray they continue. Come and visit any time. -V
I wish I had a phone number for you or something, cause I want to talk to you right now and you’re not on AIM.
What time tomorrow is the UNI concert? You left before I could get too many details about it… Hope you have a great week!
you know, I’m pretty sure, now that I think about it, you told me that girl was your sister and I forgot…
Gosh! (I feel bad for not knowing that)
Well when I saw you at Wartburg didn’t you ask if I was going to allstate speech?
I figured since your brother went you knew where it was.
Darn! We could of hung out. I didn’t do much ALL DAY and it was quite boring.
I posted my story on lj… I humbly request that you read it again; I made several little changes. I would have commented on yours, except that your entry somehow does not allow it. My friend started to read it and really likes what she’s seen so far, but she had to leave for something and will finish it later. Anyway, now that my mind is clearer, let me leave my comments on it here:
You are a master of description. It is truly powerful. A couple of places seem to move a little too fast, but I believe you captured the character’s voices in the dialogue very well. I was a bit surprised that you seemed to write a bit more from Evey’s point of view than from V’s, but I thought you pulled that off well. Well done.
And now I must tear myself away from the creative world of writing back to the academic one. Tschau.
